By applying your own product name and identity with a logo you can distribute the software and have your clients trust it's associated with your organization. You can also enforce additional terms of service, warranties and contracts through the terms of service.
In order to customize the XDSYNC software installer please download the archive from http://www.exchangedefender.com or http://go.ownwebnow.com.
There are four files in the XDSYNC.zip distribution:
brand.dat XDSYNC Branding data file.
BrandingTool.exe XDSYNC Branding Tool.
Email Protection Synchronization.msi XDSYNC Software Installer.
setup.exe Contains the XDSYNC service software.
In order to start the branding process please launch BrandingTool.exe. Once you are done, your branding information will be stored in the brand.dat file. Branding tool requires several parameters, all of which are required for the customization of the XDSYNC installer and software. Click on the ellipses to locate the files you wish to use for this activity.
IMPORTANT: Your logo must be 455 pixels wide and 60 pixels tall. The "Program Description" and "Terms & Agreements" must be plain text documents.
Click on the Generate button to create branding.dat file. After you have confirmed that the branding is as you expect, you should delete the Branding Tool.exe file.
Your branding will be reflected on the installer as illustrated below:
If you are happy with the look of the installer you can safely close it and compress into a distributable archive.
Deployment
Own Web Now's XDSYNC LDAP tool for ExchangeDefender requires administrative privileges to the domain it is being installed on. You should deploy this tool on a domain controller or the Exchange server as it cannot work on a workstation.
Just execute Email Protection Synchronization.msi and follow the prompts.
Configuration
XDSYNC tool for ExchangeDefender runs as a Windows Service and is configured to automatically start when Windows Server starts. There are a few configuration steps you must follow when you first deploy the software.
XDSYNC Configuration icon is automatically deployed on your desktop. Please double click on it to connect the service to ExchangeDefender.
You will be prompted to agree to the Terms and Conditions before you can proceed.
You will be prompted to authenticate to ExchangeDefender so that the Windows Service can properly update your Active Directory changes to ExchangeDefender.
You will need your Domain name and your password as they appear in the ExchangeDefender portal.
You will be presented with two options:
- Synchronize all accounts - This option will upload all of your mail enabled Active Directory users to ExchangeDefender. This is useful if you are establishing a new service with ExchangeDefender and need to setup every user.
- Synchronize accounts modified since - This option will only upload accounts and changes since the date you select. If you are deploying XDSYNC in an organization that is already protected by ExchangeDefender this option will start off where you stopped manual management of ExchangeDefender accounts and automatically replicate changes going forward without making changes to the existing ExchangeDefender user lists and their configuration.
Finally, click Save to apply the configuration and start the service.
Please do not remove the XDSYNC Configuration tool. If you ever change your ExchangeDefender domain login password, you will need to update the configuration in order for synchronization to continue.
